Steyr Mannlicher “Classic American” Half Stock .260 Remington Rifle

Rare Steyr of Austria – increasingly scarce, discontinued configuration: an authentic Steyr Mannlicher “Classic American” Half Stock, chambered in the elusive and highly desirable .260 Remington.

For generations, this premier Austrian arms maker has set the global benchmark for factory-built precision. This rifle is a striking testament to that engineering legacy.
Here is what makes this specific firearm a true masterpiece:

• Colt Python-Grade Steel Work: The high-luster metalwork features a deep, mirror-polished bluing that directly echoes the iconic finishes produced by Colt during the 1950s and 60s. Achieving a luster this rich required flawless, extensive hand-polishing before the metal ever entered the bluing tank.
• Masterfully Figured Woodwork: The action sits in a stunning piece of premium French Walnut, cut into a refined Bavarian profile and protected by a silky satin coat. It is handsomely accented with a rich Rosewood grip cap and matching forend tip.
• Spiral Hammer-Forged Barrel: The 23.6-inch barrel retains the distinct exterior spiral facet pattern that serves as the hallmark of Steyr’s legendary cold-hammer-forging process. Underneath that elegant look is a precise 1:8 twist rate built to stabilize premium hunting bullets.
• Advanced Mechanics: The rifle is equipped with Steyr’s signature crisp chrome trigger, an lightning-fast lock time, and an ultra-secure three-position roller safety mounted on the tang.
• Clever Feeding System: The 4-round detachable rotary magazine features Steyr’s unique “double-bite” mechanism. This allows you to click the magazine into a dropped position to single-load over the top, or slap it fully home when you need to feed from the box.

Ballistically, the .260 Remington is the ultimate short-action performer—acting as the modern, flat-shooting sibling to the legendary 6.5×55 Mauser. It packs more than enough stopping power and precision to ethically harvest big game across the continent, yet does so with incredibly manageable recoil. This rifle showcases a level of old-world European craftsmanship and meticulous mechanical fit that mainstream factories simply cannot replicate today. It will instantly become the crowning achievement of any high-end firearm collection.
